39th European Microwave Conference 2009

Rome, 29 September - 1 October 2009

The 39th European Microwave Conference (EuMC) that will be held in Rome, Italy, from 29 September to 1 October, is the core of European Microwave Week 2009, the largest event in Europe dedicated to microwave electronics.

The European Microwave Conference is the premier forum for the presentation of the present status and future trends in the field of microwave, millimetre- and submillimetre-wave systems and technologies. A broad range of high-frequency related topics, from materials and technologies to integrated circuits, systems and applications will be addressed in all their aspects: theory, simulation, design and measurement. Examples include the latest developments for passive components, modelling and design of high frequency and high data-rate photonics, highly stable and noiseless microwave and millimetre-wave sources, new linearisation techniques and the impact of new packaging technologies on development applications. Special emphasis will be placed on emerging technologies such as MEMS, metamaterials, reconfigurable RF components and systems, System-In-Package and System-On-Chip. The scope also includes electromagnetic field theory, numerical techniques, theoretical and experimental developments in wave propagation, remote sensing, antenna systems and advanced simulation techniques.

The EuMC is thus the perfect event to keep up to date with recent achievements in the RF, microwave and millimetre-wave domain. It provides many opportunities to network and interact with international experts in a wide variety of specialities, attracting delegates with academic and industrial backgrounds. With more than 300 selected papers in about 60 oral and poster sessions, the conference represents an exciting forum for the presentation and discussion of the most recent advances in the microwave arena.

In addition to scientific papers, contributions are encouraged on industrial applications, covering the fields of instrumentation, medical, telecommunication, radar, space, automotive and defence systems.

Conference Highlights

The EuMC is the perfect event to keep up to date with recent achievements in the RF, microwave and millimetre-wave domain. The EuMC provides many opportunities to network and interact with international experts in a wide variety of specialities, attracting delegates with academic and industrial backgrounds. With more than 300 selected papers in about 60 oral and poster sessions, the conference represents an exciting forum for the presentation and discussion of the most recent advances in the microwave area. Focused sessions and Workshops will complement the programme. Proposals for focused sessions should be submitted before 30 November 2008 to the EuMC Chairman.

EuMC Microwave Prize

The Technical Programme Committee of the EuMC and the EuMW Steering Committee will award the EuMC Microwave Prize of € 5,000 to the author(s) of the best contributed paper to the 39th European Microwave Conference. The winning paper will be considered for publication in the Journal of the EuMA.

EuMC Young Engineers Prizes

The Technical Programme Committee of the EuMC and the EuMW Steering Committee will award two EuMC Young Engineers Prizes of € 2,000 each to young engineers or researchers who have presented an outstanding paper at the European Microwave Conference. To be eligible, candidates must be (1) aged 30 or younger at the date of the award, (2) the first author of the paper, (3) the presenter either in an oral or poster session. The number of co-authors should not exceed three. The successful applicant may use part of the prize to fund attendance at the following year's European Microwave Conference. Winning papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of the EuMA.

Reduced Fees and Special Grants

Reduced fees are implemented for students as well as senior persons aged 65 years or more. The European Microwave Association will also provide up to 10 student grants consisting of € 500. Applications should be sent to the EuMC Chairman by 7 June 2009.

The European Microwave Association will also provide a number of grants for delegates coming from NIS countries, Russia and from low-income countries. The value of the grants is € 500 plus the reduced registration fee for the EuMC. Applications should be sent to the EuMC Chairman by 7 June 2009.
